SVG Optimizer

Make SVG files smaller by removing editor leftovers, comments, and extra digits. Every result is checked pixel by pixel, so you can see it still looks the same.

Optimize SVG locally

Runs locally in your browser. Files are optimized on your device, not uploaded, saved, or shared.

Watch: shrink an SVG

No sound. Each step is captioned on screen and also written out in the guide below.

Smaller SVGs in three steps

  1. 01
    Add your SVG

Drop exported files or paste the code. Several files work together.

  2. 02
    Check the result

See the size before and after, both versions side by side, and the pixel comparison.

  3. 03
    Copy or download

Copy the optimized code, or save the files one by one or as a .zip.

What gets removed

  • Editor data: Inkscape, Illustrator, Sketch, and Affinity leftovers, and metadata.
  • Extra digits: 4.0000002 becomes 4, and paths use the shortest notation.
  • Long colors: #FFAA00 becomes #fa0, and rgb(255,0,0) becomes red.
  • Unused IDs, empty groups, comments, and whitespace.

Frequently asked questions

Will my SVG still look the same?

Each result is drawn next to the original and compared pixel by pixel. At the default precision, typical icons and logos come out identical. Lower precision makes files smaller and can shift edges slightly; the comparison shows how much.

Why are some IDs kept?

IDs that gradients, clip paths, links, or accessibility labels point to are kept. If the SVG has a style sheet or script, all IDs are kept, because they might be used there.

Should I remove width and height?

Only if you want the SVG to scale to its container, for example in a responsive layout. The viewBox keeps its shape. Leave them on for fixed-size icons.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Optimizing and the visual check both run in your browser.
