PNG to WebP in three steps

  1. 01
    Add your PNG images

Drop them, choose them, or paste one. Several at once is fine.

  2. 02
    Check the settings

WebP is already selected. Set a width to make large images smaller.

  3. 03
    Download

See each file's size before and after, then save them one by one or as a .zip.

Why convert PNG to WebP?

  • Much smaller: photos and detailed images shrink a lot compared with PNG.
  • Keeps transparency: unlike JPG, WebP keeps transparent areas.
  • Supported everywhere that matters: all current major browsers show WebP, including Safari since 2020.

For screenshots with small text, use a high quality (90 or more) so the text stays sharp.

Frequently asked questions

Is transparency kept?

Yes. Transparent and partly transparent areas stay that way in the WebP.

Will the image lose quality?

Slightly, depending on the quality setting. Photos look the same at 80–85. For logos and screenshots, use 90 or more and compare.

Why is my WebP bigger than the PNG?

That can happen with small, simple graphics that PNG already stores well. Raise or lower the quality, or keep the PNG. Bigger results are flagged.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser decodes and converts the images itself. Nothing is sent to a server.
